The Hornet's pitch is arithmetic: the best power per euro in the middleweight class, wrapped in sharp styling and priced below bikes it out-accelerates. Reviewers describe the twin as genuinely characterful rather than merely adequate, with a top end that rewards commitment and enough midrange for lazy overtakes.
The catch is printed further down the spec sheet, and every road test eventually finds it in exactly the same place: the suspension budget that made the price possible.
Where Honda saved the money
The press consensus on the soft Showa setup is more nuanced than the forum consensus: for daily riding and average weights, testers found it comfortable, well-balanced and entirely fit for purpose. Pressed hard, the same reviews report the rear running out of sophistication well before the chassis runs out of steering, and heavier riders notice first.
There is no cornering ABS at any price, which is the one omission that ages the package. For road riding at road pace the Hornet is entirely sufficient, which is the most Honda sentence I will write today.
