What we collect ourselves

Almost nothing. The Moto Ref has no user accounts, no comment system and no newsletter yet. Every page is a static document. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to operate the service; we do not use them to identify you. Tools like the comparison picker and the mileage calculator run entirely in your browser and send us nothing.

Advertising

We show display advertising to fund the site. Ad providers such as Google AdSense may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have consented. These providers act under their own privacy policies; Google describes its practices and your controls at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Where required by law you will be asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set, and you can withdraw it at any time via the consent controls.

Affiliate links

Some links on parts pages are affiliate links, always labelled as such. If you buy through them, the retailer may set cookies to attribute the sale and we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We receive aggregate sales data only, never your personal details.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Since we hold essentially none ourselves, most requests will concern our advertising partners, but we will help route any request you send us. Contact us any time via the contact page.

Changes

If our practices change, for example if we add analytics or a newsletter, this page changes first and the date above moves.
