The short version
Like its supermoto sibling, the 701 Enduro is mechanically a KTM 690 Enduro R with different bodywork and fuel carried in the rear subframe. Same 74 hp LC4, same 250 mm XPLOR travel, same do-everything dual sport brief.
Where it wins
- Benchmark big-bore dual sport hardware shared with the KTM
- Rear fuel cell lowers the centre of gravity
- Undercuts the 690 Enduro R on price most years
Where it loses
- No ride modes and a basic LCD dash
- 935 mm seat height excludes most inseams

The 690 Enduro R's quieter sibling
Mechanically the 701 Enduro is a KTM 690 Enduro R with the fuel moved into the rear subframe and 50 EUR knocked off. The press reviews read accordingly: a do-it-all machine that handles real off-road with ease and, as one adventure tester put it, stands out most when riding alongside a group of big adventure bikes that have to go around what it goes over.
Travellers gravitate to this one specifically. The minimalist-overlander crowd treats the 701 as its default answer, strapping soft luggage to it and disappearing for months, which says more than any launch report.
Fuel in the back, mass down low
The rear fuel cell drops the centre of gravity and slims the bike between the knees, exactly where a standing rider grips it, and reviewers consistently describe the steering as stable and neutral in terrain where tall tanks get nervous. It is the one engineering difference from the KTM you can genuinely feel.
The rest mirrors the 690: same appetite for abuse, same competition-derived suspension, same minimal LCD and no ride modes, which is the one line on the sheet where the KTM pulls ahead.
Choosing between the pair
The 935 mm seat filters buyers before the test ride does, on either bike. If you fit, the decision comes down to the KTM's ride modes against the Husqvarna's fuel layout and small saving, and riders who tour loaded tend to pick the Husqvarna for the balance alone.
I lean KTM for the electronics, but nobody who buys the 701 Enduro has made a mistake. The hardware that matters is identical, and it is the best in the category.

Frequently asked
- Is the Husqvarna 701 Enduro A2 licence legal?
- Not as delivered: 74 hp is 54.4 kW against the 35 kW A2 limit. Because it stays under 70 kW, dealers can supply it restricted to 35 kW for A2 licence holders, and the full power returns with a dealer derestriction once you upgrade.
- How fast is the Husqvarna 701 Enduro?
- Our power-to-weight model estimates 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.3 seconds, from 74 hp moving 158 kg wet. That is an estimate for comparison, not a measured time, and it is labelled that way everywhere on this site.
- What is the fuel range of the Husqvarna 701 Enduro?
- About 302 km on paper: a 13 litre tank against a claimed 4.3 L/100 km. Ride it with enthusiasm and the maths gets worse, never better.
- How tall is the seat on the Husqvarna 701 Enduro?
- The Husqvarna 701 Enduro seat sits at 935 mm, which is properly tall, and it filters buyers at the first car park stop. At 158 kg wet, weight does the rest of the talking at a standstill.
- How much does the Husqvarna 701 Enduro cost?
- €12,149 list price in the EU market this site scores. It earns 6.2 of 20 value points on our formula, which weighs price against equipment and running costs.
