The short version
Fantic's XMF 125 Performance is a motocross frame with lights: a CrMo perimeter chassis, 127 kg wet, a torquey VVA single breathing through an Arrow exhaust from the factory, and the first switchable rear ABS in the motard class. It is the purest supermoto of the A1 trio and the least interested in being anything else, right down to the single seat.

What the XMF 125 actually is
Fantic builds motocross bikes, and the XMF 125 Performance hides none of that ancestry: a chromoly perimeter frame, a variable-section swingarm, a removable rear subframe and a single seat homologated for exactly one person. At 127 kg wet it undercuts the Aprilia by 9 kg and the KTM by a full 25, and in a class where every engine makes the same legal 15 hp, weight is the only performance figure a manufacturer can still compete on. Fantic competed.
The Minarelli-based single uses variable valve actuation to fatten the midrange, peaking at 9,500 rpm where the KTM and Aprilia spin another thousand or more for the same power. On the road that means the Fantic pulls earliest out of the corner, which on a 15 hp bike is where entire overtakes are decided.
Hardware and the fine print
The brake package reads like the KTM's: a 320 mm wave disc, a radial-mount caliper, and dual-channel ABS that lets you switch the rear off for proper supermoto behaviour, a feature Fantic shipped before anyone else in the motard class. The Arrow exhaust comes fitted from the factory, which is several hundred euro of the usual first upgrade already spent on your behalf.
The costs of the racing focus are equally plain. There is no pillion provision at all, the dash is a simple digital unit with no connectivity, and the engine wants a service every 5,000 km, double the workshop cadence of the KTM. Fantic's dealer map is thin next to the orange and black networks, which matters more for a teenager's only transport than for a weekend toy. At 4,990 EUR it splits its rivals on price and beats both on feel; whether that trade works depends on how far you live from the nearest Fantic sign.
